Tune In to Your Community and Tune Out TV!
The mission of TV Tune Out is to encourage people of all ages to engage in activities outside of TV (and other screens!); activities which are mentally, physically, socially, and emotionally fulfilling. There are many ways to participate, ranging from family time at home to library programs and other community activities –the possibilities are endless!
TV Tune Out is co-sponsored by the Collaboration for Early Childhood Care & Education and the River Forest and Forest Park Public Libraries. We’re expanding the opportunities to “Tune In to Your Community” to 2 weeks for 2011; TV Tune Out is taking place April 3-17. This blog is designed to provide you with resources and program listings to have a successful TV Tune Out!
TV Tune Out overlaps National Library Week April 10-16. The goal of National Library Week is to celebrate and recognize our nation’s libraries and librarians. The theme of National Library Week is “Create Your Own Story @ Your Library.” Visit the American Library Association Website to learn more.

April is also Poetry Month and National School Library month;
The Week of the Young Child is also April 10-16 and the theme for 2011 is Early Years Are Learning Years.
